Last of the Knights
Notes: Thread featuring a EU reinterpretation of Ben Solo, prompts for Kylo and Ben available.

Prompt A - New Republic Era
When the Knights of Ren come to visit, they take everything that is remotely valuable and isn't nailed down, leaving only ashes and nightmares behind. Very few people have had both the misfortune to encounter the legendary bandit gang and the luck to escape alive. They've picked up a new leader recently, young but fierce and ruthless, and under his command their raids on the Outer Rim have gotten bolder. They prey on the people of the New Republic and Imperial Remnant alike. The name Kylo Ren is one spoken in fear.
This time they're raiding an abandoned temple. In a twisted combination of his father's and his uncle's occupations, Kylo Ren has an interest in "collecting" Force artifacts, Light and Dark alike, and one of his men has tipped him off to this one. Six dark figures, each armed, enter the temple, scanning it for valuables to steal and vigilant for traps. They almost blend into the shadows,
A seventh figure comes to the head of the group. Like the others, he wears a black outfit and helmet, but his proud bearing and the way the others defer to his leadership when he jerks his head suggest that he's the one in charge.
"Vicrul, not yet." The Knights' young leader hisses venomously when one moves forward with his vibroscythe. Kylo doesn't take kindly when his authority over the gang is challenged.
The scythe-wielding Knight confronts him. "Kylo. I can take care of this now."
"Don't disobey me. We attack when I give the order." This time Vicrul relents, letting Kylo take command.
His voice is modulated under the helmet, a theatrical gesture to make him sound older than he is. "This temple belongs to the Knights of Ren now. Cooperate with us or stand aside, and we'll let you live. If you want to fight, well..." He gestures to his companions and gives a nasty smirk under the helmet. "We can work with that."
Prompt B - Beginning of the Vong War
The Knights of Ren are extinct, killed by their own leader in a fit of conscience. The gang may return in the future, under new leadership and new members - that's the way of legends, good and bad. They don't die.
There's one left, but he's no longer interested in maintaining the gang's traditions, such as they were. Ben Solo has cast aside the ways of a pirate captain for the ways of a hermit. He chose to disappear into exile rather than approach his family, partly due to the severity of his crimes and partly because he's afraid to face his parents and uncle. He misses his siblings, and he wonders how they've grown. Kylo Ren is dead, as far as the galaxy's concerned, and Ben Solo chose to go with him.
He would have been content to live that way for the rest of his life, in peace after a lifetime of violence.
But it's the arrival of the Yuuzhan Vong that bring the first Solo child out of exile.
He greets the visitor more warmly than would be expected for someone with such a well-earned, terrifying reputation. The helmet and robes are no longer in use, discarded long ago. The man underneath them is older now. But there's urgency, too.
"I felt something in the Force," says Ben once the visitor's settled. "Something bad. Tell me, please, what's been happening in the galaxy since I left?"
